We're quids in at the races
Forester - March 16th 2006
The punters may have been cursing the rain at the Cheltenham races but Jim Carver was over the moon when the heavens opened. The specialist umbrella maker, who has been based at Brooms Green near Dymock for seven years, was quids in. Jim, 37, said: "I've been selling traditional bookmaker's umbrellas. They're probably the strongest you can buy."
Jim is the fourth generation of his family to work in the brolly business and the National Hunt Festival is a boom time for him as bookies rush to buy his portable shelters for their pitches.
